If you witness or are a victim of abuse ask those around you and authorities for support. For dangerous situations call 112 (unique number for emergency services in all countries of the European Union). The call is free and, if the mobile device allows it, can also help localize the caller.

TYPICAL ABUSE AGAINST REFUGEES

  • hiding or destroying identity documents

  • theft and fraud (theft of property, including money; deceit for money exchange services; inflated prices for products / services; demand for payment for free services / products)

  • bribes required for (faster) border processing

  • discrimination

  • psychological abuse (including threat of deportation)

  • physical violence

  • sexual violence

  • human trafficking
